The Patagonian Mara, also known as the Patagonian Cavy, Patagonian Hare or the Dillaby, is a species of the Caviidae family native to Argentina. It is commonly found in open or semi open areas of land.
Although part of the caviidae family, they are very rabbit like in stature with distinctively long ears and strong hind limbs.
They are herbivores and eat green vegetation and fruit.
Lifespan – 7-10 years
IUCN Conservation Status – Near threatened (due to hunting and habitat loss)
